Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a hands-on style of physical therapy that involves evaluating and treating the musculoskeletal system for soft tissue and joint restrictions. At Physio, our clinicians assess whether the soft tissues and joints have hypo- (restricted) or hyper- (over-extended) mobility. Restrictions may be felt in the soft tissues and/or the joints. Sometimes both the soft tissue and joint are involved. This is why it takes a trained therapist to properly evaluate both.

Specialized Services

Many of our clinics offer specialized services. Visit the web page for the clinic nearest you for a complete list of available specialized services.

Aquatic Therapy

Physio offers Aquatic Therapy that can be an effective pain management tool that combines the benefits of exercise with the buoyancy and resistance of heated water to create a controlled, productive environment for physical rehabilitation.

Aquatic Therapy creates optimum body mobility by supporting the body and reducing joint stress so you can exercise without feeling the weight-bearing stress on your body. Aquatic Therapy is especially beneficial post-surgery and for some injuries so that weight bearing activities can begin earlier, leading to less pain and a faster recovery.

The resistance of water helps to tone muscles and increase flexibility and strength. Heated water increases range of motion, circulation, heart rate, respiration and blood flow to the muscles, helping the body recover from injuries.

With our skilled clinical team, both swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages and abilities can benefit from the healing effects of water therapy.

Our Aquatic Therapy program can provide significant benefits for these and other conditions:

  • Sprains & Strains
  • Joint Pain

Disability Evaluation

Disability Work Assessment (DWA) is a comprehensive assessment that focuses on functional abilities as it relates to impairments and the ability to engage in substantial, gainful activities (SGA). The DWA consists of physical tests, medical history review and observations conducted for approximately two hours, as well as up to five days of follow-up to document responsiveness to the assessment activities. Our therapists are specifically trained to provide Disability Work Assessments. Our licensed physical and occupational therapists can handle the documentation and the paperwork for you.

Dry Needling

Trigger Point Dry Needling is a relatively new and extremely effective technique practiced by physical therapists and is used for pain management as well as acute and chronic sports-related injuries.

Dry Needling involves multiple advances of a thin needle into the muscle in the region of a “trigger point.” For example, pain down the leg may have a trigger point in the hip muscle that is causing the pain. The goal of dry needling is to improve function by decreasing pain and improving muscle activation. Chronic pain is sometimes caused by an overly sensitive nervous system that gets “stuck” in a cycle of unrelenting pain. Dry needling can “reboot” the nervous system and break the pain cycle.

At Physio, our certified physical therapists are uniquely qualified to perform this technique, given their extensive knowledge of anatomy and muscle function. In addition, our therapists use other manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue mobilization, joint mobilizations and manipulations in conjunction with exercise, postural training and modalities like ice/heat, ultrasound and electric stimulation to create a comprehensive program customized to meet your specific needs.

Our Physical Therapy program can provide significant benefits for these and other conditions:

    Acute & Chronic Overuse Injuries:
  • Muscle Tear
  • Tennis/Golfers’ Elbow
  • Impingement
  • TMJ
    Spinal Conditions:

  • Cervico-genic Headache
  • Chronic Low Back Pain
  • Cervical/Thoracic Pain
    Upper Extremity Conditions:
  • Impingement Syndrome
  • Rotator Cuff Strain
  • Frozen Shoulder
    Lower Extremity Conditions:
  • Patellar Femoral Syndrome
  • Patellar Tendonitis
  • Achilles Tendonopathy
  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • IT Band Syndrome

Hand Therapy

Hand Therapy can help by decreasing pain, restoring strength and improving function. The hand is made up of 19 bones forming 14 joints which attach at the wrist to the radius and ulna bones of the forearm. Ligaments are like strong rubber bands that hold the bones together. There are six major ligaments that help give the wrist and hand stability. The muscles in the hand and wrist enable the fingers and thumbs to flex and move. The hand and wrist are complex. At Physio, we can help with a variety of problems by decreasing pain, increasing strength and improving range of motion.

Under the careful guidance of our therapists, a wide range of exercises and treatment programs are tailored to meet your specific needs and help you reach your goals.

Dizzyness may be due to an inner ear or vestibular disorder.
